If you are a full-time student, opportunities are that on a average day, you don't have access to a good deal of cash. It can be tricky to have a full-time job, or a high paying job while you're going to school. You've got to make good grades now so you can make the big bucks someday. But, in the mean time you're whipped for cash. Most of the time, you don't need a good deal of money, but you do need to have a backup plan in case an unlucky issue pops. Your car might break up, or you might not have decent cash to pay for your books. You might even have to make trip to the hospital, and even if you have insurance, sometimes you're expected to pay a certain fee to encounter care. For all of these situations, it helps to have a credit card available. Credit cards can be a safety net for a student who doesn't have ready access to funds in the case of an emergency or unexpected event.

Student credit cards can be, and are often misused. But they can be used responsibly, and are often a inevitable part of college life. In order to use your student credit card responsibly, make a pact with yourself that you will not use the card to pay for unnecessary buys like meals out, the latest CDs and fashions, and urge buys. Sometimes, though, a credit card can help you feed yourself at the end of a particularly tight month, or if you need to buy a presentable outfit for an interview. Credit cards can be used to pay for necessities, but try to pay outstanding balances off as soon as doable, or you'll be paying a lot more later.
